Elliue is built so that your financial records stay with you. This page explains what the Elliue iPhone app and this website do with information, in plain language.
Last updated
In short
- What you record in the app is stored on your iPhone. There’s no Elliue account and no Elliue server holding your financial data.
- The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking code, doesn’t connect to banks and doesn’t send your financial information anywhere.
- Your data is included in your iPhone’s backups and in any exports you make. Those copies are under your control, not ours.
- This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts.
Elliue is in development and isn’t available to download yet. This policy describes the app as it’s currently built. If that changes before or after release, we’ll update this page first.
Who we are
Elliue is made by the Elliue team. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the people behind Elliue. You can contact us at support@elliue.com.
The Elliue app
What the app stores
The app keeps the information you choose to enter:
- transactions: amount, currency, description, category, date and any notes
- one-time bills and recurring commitments, with their amounts, dates and reminder choices
- monthly budgets and your categories
- settings, such as your main currency, reminder time, App Lock and, only if you add them, your income and savings preference
The app doesn’t ask for bank logins, card numbers, identity numbers, employer details or proof of income. It doesn’t connect to banks, read other apps or move money.
Where it’s stored
Everything is stored in a database inside the app on your iPhone. There’s no account and no Elliue server, so we can’t see, access or recover your records. The app itself doesn’t send your financial information anywhere.
How it’s protected on your iPhone
- The app asks iOS for its strictest file protection (Data Protection “Complete”), which keeps the app’s files encrypted while your iPhone is locked. This relies on your iPhone having a passcode. The app doesn’t add encryption of its own on top.
- The app hides its screen in the iPhone’s app switcher, so balances don’t show there.
- You can turn on App Lock to require Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode to open the app. iOS handles the check; the app never receives your face or fingerprint data.
The Assistant
The Assistant runs entirely on your iPhone. No AI service is connected, so nothing you type is sent anywhere, and conversations aren’t saved. Its figures come from the app’s own calculations on your recorded data. If an online AI option is ever added, it will be off by default, ask your permission first, and say exactly what is shared. We’ll update this policy before that happens.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications that iOS schedules on your iPhone; they aren’t sent from a server. By default the lock-screen text doesn’t include names or amounts. You can change this in the app’s settings.
Exchange rates
The app doesn’t look up exchange rates online. Amounts in another currency are converted only with a rate you enter.
Backups and exports
Like most apps, Elliue’s data is included in your iPhone’s iCloud Backup and in backups to a computer. That’s how your records move to a new iPhone. iCloud backups are encrypted by Apple; a computer backup is encrypted only if “Encrypt local backup” is turned on. These backups are handled by Apple and by your computer, not by us.
You can export all your data as JSON or CSV and choose where to save or send it. An exported file is a copy outside the app, and it’s up to you who can see it.
Deleting your data
“Delete all data” in the app’s settings erases the app’s database, its safety copies and its temporary files on your iPhone. Deleting the app also removes its data from your iPhone. Neither can reach backups made earlier or files you’ve exported, so delete those separately if you want them gone.
When the app is distributed through Apple
Elliue will be distributed through Apple’s App Store (and, for testing, TestFlight). Apple handles downloads and purchases under its own privacy policy. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may give us crash reports and aggregated usage information. If you join a TestFlight test, Apple shares your name, email address and any feedback you send with us so we can run the test. None of this includes your financial records.

When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and to help with your question. Please don’t send exports or other financial details; we don’t need them to help. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.
Changes
If we change how Elliue handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and describe significant changes clearly in the app before they take effect.
